The first Polish indoor wall was erected
during the mid-eighties by the climbers of the Gliwice
Mountaineering Club using a 20 metre-high disused lift shaft,
located in the same building as the
club. Such a location ensured that the base of the wall was
always crowded. After ten years, in 1995,
this location was modernized by our company to bring it more
into line with the growing expectations and skills of it’s
users. The years since then have brought
with them a startling growth of in the popularity of indoor
climbing, including many people previously unconnected to the
sport. More and more, young people are choosing this form of
recreation and are using indoor walls with increasing
frequency. In our country the number of
walls presently stands at around 200, with more being built
all the time. Most of these are built
in the South and Western parts of the country and Warsaw. It’s
pleasant for us to note that a large part this total was built
by ourselves. To date, we have designed
and installed over 125 climbing structures, with many more in
preparation. These comprise almost 9.000 m² of climbing
surface. On an average day approximately 3 500 persons climb
our walls, giving a weekly total of more than 15 000 and an
annual total of around 250 000 users. |
